Family Life Outreach Ministries
The Idea of an outreach ministry began with the Robinson's young daughter Joy, who started backyard Bible Clubs at the early age of nine years old. Several years later, after Joy's death; Robert and Janet Robinson founded Gospel Light Ministries in their home on Morton St. in Camden, New Jersey.
Gospel Light Ministry was formed for the purpose of ministering to troubled youth and their families.
The ministry was registered with the State of New Jersey and IRS as a 501-C3 nonprofit organization. Under Gospel Light Ministry, the children's Bible clubs were called Lighthouse Clubs and the older youth were called Fellowship Clubs. The older group were supervised and trained to minister to the younger children as Bible Club leaders and mentors.
The teen group also traveled all over New Jersey and Pennsylvania to churches and youth groups ministering through Gospel Puppet Programs(with a professional stage), drama and musicals.
They also ministered in nursing homes, area hospitals, camps, and one year was employed by Camden City Department of Recreation to put on programs at all Camden City Sites.
One of our biggest yearly projects was sending Camden City children to camp each summer. Youth ages 7-10 would go for two weeks (free of charge) to the Fresh Air Home in Wildwood, NJ.
The Older children would be bused to Camp of the Nations in Northern Pennsylvania on funds donated by area businesses and some even outside of Camden. These funds were raised for children who would not ordinarily have a vacation.
For several years a cruiser bus was donated for camp transportation by radio station B101. One summer, with God's help we were able to send as many as seventy-five children to camp.
In 1998 the outreach ministry was reformed by The Robinson Family's oldest son Robert Robinson Jr., and renamed "Family Life Outreach Ministry".
This ministry performed some of the same ministry functions as the latter but also undertook some new ones such as 'The Sunkett Memorial Fund" and "Mission to Africa" (under the direction of Evangelist Janet Robinson and Pastor Mary Lovett). The Sunkett Memorial Fund provides Christmas food baskets and toys to needy families in the Camden area.
In July 2001, Family Life Outreach partnered with Prayer Tower Ministries to minister to and feed HIV and AIDS orphans of South Africa.
In 2011, Family Life Outreach (F.L.O) Ministries is continuing to serve the Lord, as well as the families of Camden, NJ through outreach to at risk youth as well as their families, and spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
