St. Jude's Hospital and Washington University have teamed up to help unravel the genetic basis of childhood cancers. They have joined forces in an effort to decode genomes of more than 600 childhood cancer patients who have contributed tumor samples for this historic effort. Story about Leukemia My adopted parents lost a son at age four to leukemia. They were devastated and heartbroken when they found out there was no cure or treatment at that time. They helplessly stood by and watched their child die. If there had been a St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at that time, maybe he would have survived, but God had other plans. Two years later they adopted me. They took me straight home from the hospital at two days old. I had a wonderful life filled with love and joy. Now I am an artist and an amateur decorator who loves animals. I live on several acres of property in the country and feel so blessed. But the greatest joy in my life is my seven year old grandson Kylan Cooper. | ||
