I financially support the National Alzheimers Association with the proceeds from my home based business.
Why?
Because my experience with my mom living with Alzheimer’s disease changed my life forever and I want to help others facing the same challenges.
My mom and me (Dan)
After I found out from the doctors that my mom had early symptoms of Alzheimer, it became painfully clear that there was not a known cure for Alzheimer’s.
I kept wanting and hoping that my mom’s condition would improve, that her memory would get better, but it continued to get worse.
On mom’s birthday each year, we had a tradition of spoiling her by taking her out to the best restaurant in town.
I would lift her up and place her in my truck. I would then place her walker in the back of the truck and off we would go.
At the restaurant, I would get her walker out of the truck and help her out of the truck.
Every year that we celebrated her birthday was a reminder that the Alzheimer’s signs and symptoms were progressively getting worse. Deep down I knew that there was no cure for Alzheimer’s and my hope was fading as the inevitable outcome was fast approaching.
My mother passed away on July 31, 2009.
Although there is no known cure for Alzheimer's, there are many different ways that people are learning how to retard the progression and cope with this terrible disease.
