Many Tears Animal Rescue Centre
Location: Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, Whales
We have been in operation for six years rescuing and re-homing dogs. Although we are a "non registered" Animal Rescue Centre, our books are open to the public.
Mission statement: Our goal is a simple one... "To bring harmony and balance to all involved with the rescue - both man and beast."
The Story Behind Many Tears Animal Rescue
Many Tears was founded in 2004 by Sylvia and Bill VanAtta. They had moved from the USA where Sylvia had been running a very large and "sad" Humane Society but had been able to make major changes to the running of the American shelter. She and Bill moved to Wales and started building Many Tears Animal Rescue.
Many Tears started on a very small scale but soon grew with the backing of animal lovers who had the same morals and felt the same longing to help the dogs. Now, well known and extremely busy, it has never lost that special family feeling. The shelter has managed to home over 1000 dogs a year throughout the UK.
"Ex-Breeding" and "Last Day" Dogs
Many Tears mainly takes in "ex-breeding dogs" and "last day" at the pound dogs. The shelter neuters, de-worms, micro chips, and inoculates, all the dogs. Then, with the help of dog lovers all over the UK, either at the rescue or in foster homes, we socialize, train, and love them until forever homes are found.
Our foster care homes are the dogs' final stepping stone before they find their forever homes. Foster homes are a great value to both the dogs and adopters as this means we have dogs awaiting for homes across the UK.
There are no fancy politics at Many Tears Dog Rescue... just many hard working dog lovers determined to make a difference to the dogs we rescue. We know we cannot save them all but the ones we can save will have a quality of life that will not be compromised.
