Boys and Girls Club needs Support

(Frisco, Texas, USA)

My name is Brenda Austin and I am the Unit Director for the Boys & Girls Club in Collin County.

We are a non-profit organization and run after school and summer programs. We serve youths ages 5-18. The majority of our Boys & Girls Club members are identified as a at-risk based based on some of the following factors

*They live in impoverished conditions
*They live in chaotic environments
*They are a t risk fro dropping out of high school
*They live in distressed neighborhoods
*They live in single parent homes
*They would otherwise be "latch Key" kids without after school supervision.

Due to recent state cut in funding, cuts and slow donations we are in dire need of sponsors for our after school especially our summer program. In the recent past we were able to provide scholarships to needy families, however,we will be unable to provide this assistance this summer therefore causing many of our families, especially our single parents with the stress of finding sufficient day care and at low cost which would allow them to continue to work.

Our summer program provides and opportunity for parents to allow their children to visit the club five days a week in a safe positive environment with caring responsible adults.

They engage in field trips , arts and nature projects and outings. In addition, we provide three meals a day to the children who might not receive a hot nutritious meal during the after school or summer months.

In addition, our clubs are open 11 hours of the day allowing youths to engage in fun and safe activities. This will help avoid youths getting into trouble, keeping them off the streets and providing them some positive fun & educational experiences.

Can you please help to sponsor either sponsor the cost of field trips and sponsor some of our club members to attend our summer program? The cost of our summer program is $310.00 per child which covers our 9 week Summer Camp program. Can you please consider sponsoring at least 20 our club members who will not have an opportunity to attend due to family financial situation.

You know that your financial investment makes a significant impact on Collin County children, with 84 cents of every dollar going directly to the youths we serve.

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Collin County we empower at risk children to be successful adults by focusing on three core areas of development: Academic Success, Character & Leadership and Health & life Skills.

Thank you in a advance for your great consideration of this matter.
